A veterinary surgeon, or vet for short, practices veterinary medicine in his or her role as an animal physician. In veterinary clinics, vets typically work with a limited range of domestic pets. The field may often extend to production or livestock medicine. A number of specialist fields are open to professionals with veterinary degrees.
